What makes The Mould Story moulds different?
Our moulds are designed specifically for resin artists. We focus on durability, ease of demoulding, excellent surface finish, and consistent casting results. Every mould is checked to ensure it performs the way artists expect.
Are your moulds made in India?
Yes. Every The Mould Story mould is proudly designed and manufactured in India. We started TMS with a simple goal: to give artists an alternative to low-quality imported moulds that often result in poor finishes, limited mould life, and inconsistent castings. Our moulds are designed specifically for resin artists, focusing on durability, better results, and a smoother creating experience from start to finish.
How many castings can I get from a mould?
The lifespan of the mould depends on the resin used; and how well it is maintained. Our handmade moulds typically offer 12–13 castings, while Aqua moulds generally provide 8–10 castings with proper care.
Can I use your moulds for materials other than resin?
Many of our moulds can be used with resin, jesmonite, concrete, soap, wax, and other casting materials. We recommend checking the individual product description for compatibility.
Are your moulds suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. Whether you're creating your first coaster or running a resin business, our moulds are designed to deliver consistent and reliable results.
How should I care for my moulds?
To maximize mould life, store your moulds flat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid using blow torches directly on the mould surface, sharp tools during demoulding, and excessive handling with your nails or bare hands. Using a gentle-curing resin such as Mycast can also help reduce heat stress on the mould, extending its lifespan and maintaining casting quality for longer.
Will my castings come out shiny?
Yes. The Mould Story moulds are designed with a smooth, high-gloss finish that transfers directly onto your castings. This means your pieces often come out with a beautiful glossy surface straight from the mould, reducing or even eliminating the need for an additional top coat. Not only does this save time, but it can also help reduce resin consumption and improve overall efficiency.
Why is mould thickness important?
A well-designed mould should be flexible enough for easy demoulding while remaining sturdy enough to maintain its shape during casting. Proper mould thickness helps achieve accurate dimensions and consistent results.
How should I store my moulds when not in use?
Store moulds flat in a clean, dust-free environment away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Avoid stacking heavy objects on top of them, as this may cause distortion over time.
Why should I invest in a quality mould?
A quality mould can improve casting consistency, reduce defects, enhance surface finish, and provide a better overall creating experience. Investing in the right mould often saves time, material, and frustration in the long run.
